What is a Current Collector and Why is it Necessary?
Current Collectors are auxiliary measurement devices that enable the collection of multiple alternating currents with the same phase position at a single measurement point. They simplify complex current measurements, particularly in compensation systems, active harmonic filter applications, and energy monitoring solutions.
Signals from synchronously operating current transformers with different loadings are safely and reliably collected and transmitted to the measurement system.
Working Principle
The Current Collector produces a single output by taking the vector sum of currents that have the same phase position but different loads. This allows measurement devices and control systems to monitor multiple lines through a single current value. Note: It is possible to sum currents with different nominal voltages; however, such measurements are not suitable for billing (tariff) purposes.
